The Mill Barns Wedding – Charlie & James

The Mill Barns is a beautiful purpose built wedding venue in Bridgnorth in Shropshire. It’s a gorgeous barn venue featuring large windows and a beautiful waterfront.

Charlie and James got married in May at the awesome Mill Barns, which is a modern barn in Bridgnorth. It was a beautiful day and the sun shone all day long!

Bridal prep at The Mill Barns

Charlie got ready at The Mill Barns with her bridesmaid and parents, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. Not having loads of bridesmaids always usually means a calmer prep, this is exactly what Charlie had, the morning was really chilled out with only her maid of honour and Chloe who was doing their hair and make up. She then walked up the stairs to get to the ceremony. Everyone was in the ceremony room when Charlie made her way up there which was perfect as this meant she could make her grand entrance into the beautiful ceremony room at The Mill Barns.

Indoor Ceremony at The Mill Barns

The ceremony was a beautiful service in the barn. The ceremony room at The Mill Barns is beautiful, big and light. There are windows at the in front of the couple saying their vows so the light on them is always perfect too. During the ceremony they had a beautiful reading from Charlie’s maid of honour. It was such a personal service and it was clear everyone was moved by it. My favourite part of the ceremony was when Charlie and James read their own vows to each other. I always think it’s really special when couples write their own vows, they always have more meaning to them than simply repeating what the registrar says. I definitely saw a few tears from their guests during this part of their ceremony.

The party

The reception was in a beautiful room at the venue. They chose Mill Barns because the light is gorgeous and they just fell in love with it. It was a Spring wedding, which is one of my favourite times of year, everything is just starting to grow again and the weather starts to perk up so everyone makes the most of it. I love shooting Mill Barns weddings because the photo ops are just incredible. The main aspect of The Mill Barns has to be the windows that let all the beautiful light into the venue. They really make the venue a photographers dream!

They had a drinks reception in the afternoon, and a DJ in the evening. They had Benny Smyth as their DJ and he was absolutely killing it with all the tunes he was playing. I always tell people I’ve seen a lot of bad wedding DJs in my time (think school disco) but Benny Smyth is definitely one of the good ones, I can’t recommend him enough if you want a good DJ for your wedding! They decorated the venue with large cocktail glasses and flowers, because they had a cocktail themed wedding.

For dinner they had a roast dinner, which was absolutely delicious. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with a sparkler exit. The Mill Barns allows sparkler exits however they always limit the number of people that can be involved in them. This works really well because nothing gets out of control and it always results in beautiful photographs.

The funniest part of the day was the dancing, because the moves were hilariously bad. Charlie and James had an open bar for a good chunk of their day which their guests definitely made full use of! This was reflected by the hilarious moves on the dancefloor.

The couple

Charlie wore a beautiful Enzoani dress and James wore a very dapper Ted Baker suit and they looked so awesome. Charlie and James found me because their friends Chloe and Kieran used me to photograph their own wedding. It’s always so wonderful when past couples recommend me!

Charlie and James’s wedding was so chilled and just the happiest occasion. Here’s their stunning Mill Barns wedding!
