Georgie & Jim had their scorching wedding last year at the beautiful Wrekin Forest Events. This was my first time shooting at this venue and it wins bonus points for being 10 minutes from my house! (Honestly I’m a little bit disappointed I didn’t book it for my own wedding…) I spoke to Georgie a couple of times on the phone ahead of their wedding and I was so excited by all of their plans. These two really did things differently, proving that a wedding really can look however you want it to. I usually start a wedding morning about two hours before the ceremony and photograph the bride and bridesmaids getting ready but Wrekin Forest offers lots of exciting activities and they were scheduled in to the morning of Georgie and Jim’s wedding. Most of their guests camped over the night before the wedding and when I arrived at the venue I was greeted by camper vans and lots of tents! Prior to the ceremony and everyone getting ready for the wedding they had various different activities such as yoga, archery, and woodcraft. It was fab to see everyone getting involved in these, I know all their guests are going to be talking about Georgie and Jim’s wedding for a long time!
Relaxed outdoor wedding venue in Shropshire
After the morning actives Georgie got ready in a tent and walked the short distance to their outdoor ceremony on the lawn. I’m so pleased that couples are now legally allowed to get married outside at licensed venues, Georgie and Jim had the most glorious weather for their wedding, it would have been such a shame if they’d had to have their wedding ceremony inside. After their ceremony they walked back down the aisle together and their guests extended the aisle so they could easily reach them with the confetti, Georgie and Jim definitely listened to me when I said there’s no such thing as too much confetti, it looked amazing in person and obviously made for some great photographs too!
Woodland wedding venue
For their couple portraits we headed off to find some shade away from their guests. You’re spoilt for choice for where to do these at Wrekin Forest but Georgie had helpfully picked out some easily accessible woodland. I missed a trick by not wearing insect repellant because I must have been bitten about 20 times in the woodland but it was fully worth it for the shots we got! Georgie and Jim provided some smoke bombs too so me and the lovely Paul from Harvey Films had a play with these to see what we could create. We got some perfect timing when some shafts of light came through the trees and lit up the smoke, it made for some magic!
Georgie & Jim’s day was one of my most relaxed weddings to date, I would absolutely love to head back to Wrekin Forest for a wedding so if you’re getting married there, drop me a message!
