Dodmoor House Wedding – Erin & Josh

Blossoms and joy at Dodmoor House's springtime affair

“Lisa recently photographed our wedding and we also had an engagement shoot with Lisa back in October! Every interaction we have had with Lisa has been lovely, she is like a friend which definitely puts you at ease especially, if like me, you aren’t a fan of having your photos taken! Unfortunately for us our engagement shoot was done under pretty bad weather conditions, it absolutely chucked it down but Lisa was so good, we persevered and the photos where so much better than we could have hoped for! I thought we’d look like drowned rats but Lisa had all the right gear to ensure this didn’t happen and she just captured us, just as we are! We had fun and knew from that moment that we had 100% found the right photographer for us! Lisa photos aren’t traditionally formal, and we didn’t want our wedding to be formal either! The whole idea was that it’d be fun and easy going! Her photos capture exactly the mood of the day, it was a beautiful spring day full of love and laughter and this radiates through in every image! On the day Lisa just melted into the background, we had the package with two photographers and I honestly didn’t even know they were there for most of the day, this has led to beautiful candid shots of not just us but all the people we love! I cannot recommend Lisa enough, and am only sad we don’t get to do it all over again with her! My advice for any newly engaged couples is follow Lisa’s Instagram and see some of the gorgeous pics she posts (also loads of good book recommendations)! But I also wanted to say thank you for all your hard work and capturing the essence of our day so wonderfully!”

Erin and Josh got married in March at the lovely Dodmoor House, which is a quirky barn in Northampton. It was such a fun wedding and it was beautifully sunny!

Getting ready

Erin got ready at Dodmoor House with her bridesmaids and mum, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. The girls then walked across the courtyard to get to the ceremony. Josh got ready at a nearby hotel with his groomsmen and loads of his family members. They travelled to the ceremony in a minibus.

Civil Ceremony at Dodmoor House

The ceremony was a lovely legal ceremony in the courtyard barn. They kept the decorations quite simple, with lots of fairy lights and flowers. Dodmoor House’s barn is really beautiful so it doesn’t need much decoration. After the ceremony Erin, Josh and their guests all headed outside into the spring sunshine to throw confetti and have some drinks. While I was lining everybody up for the confetti shot Erin and Josh hid around the corner to have a moment to themselves. My second shooter, Dani caught them at this moment having a little kiss, I love this shot because Erin and Josh didn’t know it was being taken and it was one of the rare moments in the day that they got to spend completely alone.

The party

The reception was in the catesby barn at the venue. They chose Dodmoor House because it’s so cosy and relaxed and would have been a perfect venue whatever the weather did. It was a film themed wedding, which I really loved. I watch a lot of films myself so I always love to see the kind of films my couples like too. Their tables were named after some brilliant films, such as Love Actually and The Dark Knight. I love shooting Dodmoor House weddings because the surroundings are just incredible.

They had drinks and canapes in the afternoon, and a live band in the evening. They decorated the venue with wildflowers and movie décor, because they’re obsessed with movies. Erin and Josh got married in March and there was the most beautiful magnolia tree out in the grounds. When I saw it when I first drove into the venue I knew we had to use it for their couple portraits! There’s also a gorgeous canal right next to the venue which we also used for their couple portraits, this looked incredible!

For dinner they had a slap up meal, which was loved by all the guests. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with everyone up on the dancefloor!

The funniest part of the day had to be the best man’s speech. Josh chose his brother as his best man, which is super lovely and also very handy because he just so happened to be a really funny guy. I have seen a LOT of best man speeches doing this job and this was seriously one of the best! He had everybody (including me!) in fits of laughter!

The couple

Erin wore a beautiful dress from Serendipity Brides and Josh wore a very smart Hugo Boss suit and they looked so amazing. Erin’s flowers were beautiful and really went with their overall look for the day and Josh’s tie was super cool, I loved the blue and white polka dot.

Erin and Josh’s wedding was so much fun and so laid back. Here’s their Dodmoor House wedding!
