London Engagement Shoot – Gulshan & Jack

London's Clissold Park providing a picturesque backdrop for love

I do most of my engagement shoots where I’m based in Shropshire, however when Gulshan and Jack asked me to venture down to London for their engagement shoot I was super excited to shoot in a different place! I’d spoken to Gulshan and Jack a couple of times over the phone before I met them for their shoot and I’d really enjoyed hearing about their plans for their wedding at Weston Park. It was really lovely to be able to put a face to their voices when I met them in London for their shoot. When I do engagement shoots with my couples in Shropshire I usually suggest a few places we could go, as I’m not that familiar with London I asked Gulshan and Jack to pick somewhere that meant something to them both and also a place that wouldn’t be too busy. A place that isn’t too busy is probably a bit of a big ask in London, however Gulshan and Jack knew just the place!

Clissold Park Engagement Shoot

We met in Clissold Park, which is a beautiful big expanse of parkland in Stoke Newington. We had a good wander round and chatted about life and their wedding plans and every now and then we stopped to take photographs. I try to make engagement shoots seem the least like a photoshoot as possible, this is why I like to chat for quite a lot of it, it’s a great way for us to get to know each other. In Clissold Park there is an awesome skate park, I was over the moon when Gulshan said she thought it was really cool and that she’d like to use it for the shoot. It ended up being one of my favourite photographs from their engagement shoot! For their entire shoot it was threatening to rain, I’d brought an umbrella with me but thankfully we didn’t have to use it much! It did mean that there were a lot of awesome looking clouds in a lot of the shots.

After their shoot we went our separate ways and I headed into Foyles (obviously) and bought a mountain of books (obviously). On their shoot I actually had a good chat with Gulshan about the book I was currently reading as it so happened that she had read it as well! I love it when I find small things like this in common with my couples (especially when it’s book related).

I’ve since shot their amazing wedding at Weston Park and you can check this out on the blog here.
