Steph and Alex got married at the beautiful Shustoke Barn in Coleshill. I’ve shot here a few times before and I always love to get the opportunity to go back. It’s nearby to Shropshire, which is where Steph and Alex are from. Weddings at Shustoke Barn are always really relaxed and fun, it’s got such a great atmosphere and there are lots of beautiful areas for photographs.
Steph and Alex both got ready at The Belfry Hotel which is a short drive from Shustoke Barn and they had their ceremony at Coleshill Parish Church. Their ceremony was beautiful and relaxed, and afterwards when Steph and Alex left church they were greeted with their guests throwing bucketloads of confetti over them, it was wonderful!
Couple Portraits at Shustoke Barn
When Steph and Alex got back to Shustoke Barn, we decided to do their couple portraits first as we were still waiting for some guests to arrive for their group shots. We went into the field next to Shustoke for some of their portraits and I was over the moon to find the field carpeted with lots of gorgeous wildflowers. I’ve been in the field at various times in the year and it’s never looked quite that beautiful! I knew from Steph and Alex’s engagement shoot that photographing the two of them was a breeze. They barely needed any direction, they just knew exactly what to do! I tend not to pose my couples too much anyway as I always think it looks quite stiff and awkward, I usually just give a bit of gentle direction along the lines of, face each other and have a cuddle. With Steph and Alex I basically didn’t have to say anything, it was like shoot professional models!
Propular Demand
Alex’s best man is one of the owners of Propular Demand, they make, hire and sell bespoke neon signs and event props. Of course Steph and Alex had to have one of these for their wedding day. Tucked away in the room above the bar at Shustoke Barn they had a LOVE sign. This room also happens to have the most beautiful light, it was the best place for this sign, we got a beautiful shot of Steph and Alex infront of the sign, making the most of the sign, the light and Steph’s amazing veil.
One of the stand out moments of the day has to be their first dance. They kept it very quiet that they’d actually choreographed a first dance, it was incredible! One of my favourite shots from this part of the day is of Alex lifting Steph during their first dance, with Steph’s dress trailing down behind her.
