“We cannot recommend Lisa highly enough. She photographed our wedding and from that moment we knew Lisa would always be apart of our lives, as a friend and as some to capture all of our important moments in life. We couldn’t wait to have her back to capture the next exciting chapter of our lives: having a baby. Our maternity pictures are so magical and we knew that Lisa needed to come back again to do our newborn baby photos. Unlike any other photographer, we have beautiful, natural photos of our family in our home and we couldn’t be more pleased. We just can’t wait to have her back again to shoot some more amazing photos of our baby now she’s a bit older. The first invite to any occasion and party will always be to Lisa, our friend, our life photographer.”
Alongside wedding photography I also offer relaxed family photography too! I photographed Chloe and Kieran’s wedding back in 2018, when I found out they were expecting a little one in 2019 I was so excited to photograph their new journey as a family. We did their maternity shoot the month before Chloe was due and I just told them to drop me a message whenever they were ready to do their newborn shoot. I was so happy when Chloe sent me a message when Rosa-Rae was only three weeks old, and we managed to squeeze in the shoot on Kieran’s last day of paternity leave. The first few weeks are such a special time, you’re just getting to know your brand new baby, days full of not much sleep, cold cups of tea and lots of cuddles. They change so quickly in these first few weeks I think it’s so important to have some photographs to capture this time.
Rosa-Rae was the perfect model, her mum had dressed her in the cutest clothes and wore a headband to match her! She slept through most of the shoot, only waking up when she wanted feeding and right at the end the shoot which was perfect timing, we managed to get a few photographs of her awake on one of her blankets. Newborn shoots are completely led by baby, whenever they need a feed, a change or a cry we can take a break, there’s absolutely no rush and definitely no posing! Napping is encouraged, it means they’re completely content and busy doing lots of growing. While Rosa-Rae napped we got lots of beautiful photos of her cuddling with her mom and dad and also close ups of her tiny hands and facial features which change so fast at this point in their lives.
We did their maternity shoot at their home in Shropshire and we decided to do their newborn shoot there too. Newborn shoots are always best done at home, everything you need for baby is there and it makes sure they’re completely comfortable and warm. I also like that the shoot takes place in their first home, this will have a lot of meaning for them when they grow up and have the keepsake of newborn photographs. We can include their first room, some of their first outfits and blankets. Photographs are always a time capsule and I think it’s important to include aspects of the home in family shoots as well as the family themselves, your home is so important, it’s where you spend most of your time.
If you’re thinking of having a family shoot with me then please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you!
