Emma and Ed chose to have their shoot in Hammerwich which is a small village in Staffordshire. I had never been to Hammerwich before and I absolutely LOVE shooting in new locations as it means I can get really creative and have a bit of an adventure. I also absolutely love a walk in a new location, I’m always taking my dog Cooper to new places for walks so an engagement shoot in a new place combines two passions for me!
I’m always a big fan of an engagement shoot, especially when I get to do it somewhere meaningful to my couples. Emma and Ed got in touch prior to their wedding and asked if we could do an engagement shoot so they’d feel more comfortable in front of the camera on their wedding day. Engagement shoots are a great idea, especially if you’re feeling a bit nervous about couple portraits on your wedding day. They are a great way to practice being in front of the camera and my couples always come away from them saying they feel much more relaxed and that they actually enjoyed it!
These two were so easy in front of the camera and they did really well considering I’m fairly sure it was the hottest day of the year. It was definitely the hottest engagement shoot I’ve ever done, my elbows were sweating which wasn’t something I even thought possible. We had a good wander around Hammerwich which is where one of Emma’s horses used to be kept so it was lovely that this was somewhere meaningful to them. I think Emma would have liked to have included her horse in the shoot but Ed wanted to keep things a little more low key. Animals are always welcome on any and every shoot with me but I’m really happy to take your lead!
If you’d like to book in for an engagement shoot, drop me a message, I’d love to hear from you!
