Pre-wedding shoot at Delamere Forest
I love doing engagement shoots in new places! Rachel and Martin asked to have their engagement shoot at Delamere Forest and I was really excited to get to shoot somewhere new, I’d never been to Delamere Forest before but I’m always up for a new adventure, especially somewhere as beautiful as this! Rachel and Martin were due to get married all the way back in 2020 but we all know how that year went down… These two stuck with me through a few date changes and 2 years and a baby later we finally got to meet for their engagement shoot ahead of their beautiful wedding at Iscoyd Park in October. I always love doing an engagement shoot with a couple ahead of their wedding day, it’s always a really nice way for us to get to know each other and it can also serve as a meeting so we can chat about all your wedding plans and if you have any questions for me you can ask away! It was so lovely meeting Rachel and Martin and hearing all about the plans they had for their wedding (I can confirm, their wedding was wonderful!). I love exploring new spaces for engagement shoots because it also gives me more ideas of different places I can take my dog, Cooper for a walk, I’m always up for new suggestions!
How to combat wedding-day nerves
We did their engagement shoot at Delamere Forest in August which was a couple of months before their wedding, this is the ideal time to do an engagement shoot because it means the shoot is still fresh in your mind on your wedding day. If you’re feeling a bit uncomfortable about having your photograph taken, I promise that is completely normal, most of my couples tell me they don’t like having their photograph taken, an engagement shoot is the perfect way to set these worries at ease. When I met Rachel and Martin at Delamere Forest we went for a lovely walk and stopped in a few areas where there was a beautiful background or lovely light and got some photographs of the two of them together. This is how I like to structure all my engagement shoots, we always start off with a bit of a walk and a chat so I’m not instantly throwing you into being in front of the lens, it’s really important to me that you feel comfortable because that’s when we’ll get the best photographs, and even more importantly, you’ll feel confident on your wedding day having your photograph taken.
Rachel and Martin were absolute naturals in front of the camera, they were laughing and joking with each other and were prepared to wade through some more overgrown parts of woodland to get to a space I really wanted to shoot in, legends! I knew during their shoot that I was going to love their wedding day even more, they’d chosen the beautiful Iscoyd Park, I’m a recommended photographer at Iscoyd and I shoot a few weddings there every year and every single one is unique. There are so many photographic options there, I feel like a kid in a sweet shop! Keep your eyes peeled for their Iscoyd wedding, it’ll be up on the blog soon!
