Sutton Park Maternity Session

Sutton Park is a beautiful nature reserve in Birmingham, when Katie and Robert asked for their maternity session there I immediately jumped in with a big yes! I love maternity sessions, I think they’re so incredibly special, it’s such a fleeting time in your life, no matter if it’s your first baby or your third, you know everything is about to change forever.

Winter Maternity Session

Katie and Robert were expecting their first baby and even had a name picked out which they very kindly shared with me! We did their session in December and were lucky that lots of the autumnal leaves had stuck around so we had lots of beautiful colour on display. This colour coupled with the gorgeous winter sun made for some pretty magical images. December can be seen as a dark month and admittedly, we only get around eight hours of daylight, however on a sunny day winter light is some of the best. We made sure to do their maternity session in the early afternoon so we could catch golden hour without risking it being too late. Whenever anyone books a session with me I’m always happy to advise when would be the best time of day to do it, this varies a lot depending on the time of year!

Connection through photography

It was so lovely to meet Katie and Robert and do this session for them, they had moved to the UK from America a couple of years beforehand for work. I loved getting to know them both during their session and hearing about their journey. The most important thing about my job is always the people, they’re always at the forefront of what I do. I want to make images that you will love not only now but in 20 years time when you’re looking back at them. I love maternity sessions in particular because I love the idea that one day they can show their son these images and say “that was you!”. Connection is always, always the most important thing to me.

If you’re looking for a photographer for a relaxed maternity session, then get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
