Sarah and Dan got married back in April 2019 at the rustic Shustoke Barn, which is a shabby chic barn in Coleshill. It was a beautiful day and we even got some gorgeous evening light!
Bridal prep
Sarah got ready at The Granary at Dovehouse Farm with her mum and some close family, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. Sarah opted not to have bridesmaids and also chose to do her own make up and hair, so her bridal prep was really a no fuss, super chilled affair. She then jumped into a car with her dad to get to the ceremony. When Sarah and her dad arrived at Shustoke Barn they were a few minutes early so we had some time to get a couple of photographs of Sarah and her dad together. These are some of my favourite shots of the day, I love the photo where they are laughing together before he walked her up the aisle.
Civil Ceremony at Shustoke Barn
The ceremony was a lovely civil service in the main barn at Shustoke. Shustoke Barn’s ceremony room is really beautiful. It has all the charm of a barn setting whilst also having big windows in exactly the right spot, so the light is still amazing. During the ceremony they said their vows to each other while holding their son. It was so emotional and such a personal service. I really love when couples who already have kids when they get married include them in the ceremony as much as they can. Little Mason didn’t want to let these two go during their vows, so he’s in all their photographs which I know that they love.
The party!
The reception was in the same room at the venue. They chose Shustoke Barn because it’s such a gorgeous venue and they just fell in love with it. It was a Spring wedding, which are always a joy to shoot with all the plants starting to come back to life and the weather starting to perk up. I love shooting Shustoke Barn weddings because the surroundings are completely stunning. There are a couple of fields around Shustoke that are perfect for couple portraits however I don’t always use them. It depends what crop is in the field at the time, for Sarah and Dan’s wedding there was only soil in the field however this didn’t really matter as the light we had was stunning and this is of course the most important part of good photography.
They had a drinks reception in the afternoon, and a DJ in the evening. They also had a magician there during their afternoon reception to entertain their guests. Magicians at weddings are always a really big hit! Their magician even did a magic show just before their speeches which was very funny. They decorated the venue with jam jars and flowers, because they wanted to keep it simple. Shustoke is one of those venues that you don’t really need to dress up very much for it to look lovely, so I think the simple approach worked really well.
For dinner they had a roast dinner, which was loved by all the guests. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with a bouquet toss. The most memorable part of the day was the speeches, because they were so emotional, there were a lot of happy tears, especially on the top table.
The couple
Sarah wore a beautiful Wed2b dress and Dan wore a Next suit and they looked so perfect. Sarah’s flowers were very simple gypsophila which worked so well with her dress and Dan wore a grey bow tie that went perfectly with his blue checked suit.
Sarah and Dan’s wedding was so laid back and so much fun. Here’s their Shustoke Barn wedding!
