It may be December but I’m taking us back to sunnier times on the blog this week with this gorgeous maternity session in the glorious Shropshire fields. Stacey and Matt first came across my work when I shot a wedding for one of their friends. I was delighted when they asked me to capture this special and fleeting time in their lives. Maternity sessions hold a special place in my heart, it’s a time you will never get back and you may not even remember it very well. In my experience having a baby causes a bit of memory loss and I really can’t remember what being pregnant feels like! It’s also weird to me now looking back on photographs of myself when I was pregnant because I can’t remember looking like that. I think maternity sessions are so important because you get to put those memories in a little time capsule. I love the idea that one day you’ll be able to show them to your little one and say “that was you!”.
Stacey’s idea for this shoot was for me to meet them at their house and then just have a wander in the fields nearby. I loved this idea for a shoot, Stacey had grown up in this area so this was truly home for her and I also feel most at home in a field, on a walk so I knew exactly what they wanted from this shoot. We took along a blanket so we could stop at certain points and let Stacey and Matt have a sit down and a cuddle and it worked so well.
After a walk around the local area we called back at their house and got some photographs in their beautiful garden. We also made sure to involve their three dogs, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you book ANY kind of shoot with me and your dogs are present they will get included in the shoot.
