“Toby hadn’t even arrived when I made the decision to book Lisa for our family photoshoot (I did wait for him to get here before making it official). I’m so glad that Lisa took our pictures. As someone who hates having their photo taken, I couldn’t think of anything worse than being in a studio environment but I knew that I would regret not doing anything at all. We had planned on going out into the wild for our photoshoot but after a spout of very hot weather we decided at the last minute that Lisa would come to our home instead; I’m so glad for the change of plan as it turned out to be a really lovely experience. We all felt so comfortable and I think that shows in the photos that were taken. We didn’t go in for props, lots of matching outfit changes and too much posing, opting instead for a more natural approach. It was the right thing for us. Our photos are lovely and I’m looking forward to doing it all over again when Toby turns 1.”
I always love doing family shoots so I was over the moon when Ceri and Gareth asked me to photograph them with their beautiful baby, Toby. We originally planned to do the shoot outside at a nearby nature spot but we had a bit of a heatwave and didn’t want anyone to get too hot during the shoot so we decided to do the shoot at home instead. I’m a really big fan of at home shoots, especially with babies, this is where everyone is most comfortable and you have everything you could possibly need to hand, including nappies, outfit changes and toys!
Ceri and Gareth met while they were working at Rowton Castle, which is a venue I’ve shot at quite a few times before! They see loads of photographers every week so I was really chuffed when they picked me to do their family shoot. They decided to wait until Toby was a little bit older to do the shoot, I love newborn shoots but it’s always nice doing a shoot when your little one has grown a bit because we get to see more of their personality. I can’t wait to be back again to photograph this beautiful family when Toby turns 1!
