A sunshine-filled celebration that felt straight out of Italy
If you’re searching for the perfect Shropshire wedding venue with a relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous scenery and a warm Mediterranean feel, The Courtyard Venue in Oswestry is an absolute gem. Rose & Rob’s July wedding was the perfect example of just how magical this venue is, especially on a bright summer’s day.
From a morning of sunshine and dogs (yes, really!), to a joyful ceremony and a sunlit celebration that genuinely felt like being transported to Italy, this entire day was an absolute joy to photograph.

Sunshine, Dogs & Getting Ready Outdoors
Prep took place at Rose’s family home, and the weather was so glorious that she actually got ready outside. There’s something incredible about bridal prep in the open air, soft natural light, sunshine filtering through the trees, and a calm, summery atmosphere that set the tone for the whole day.
She was joined by her family dogs too, who made themselves part of the morning in the most adorable way. Naturally, I captured their little personalities, those photos always end up being some of the most loved!
Rose wore her beautiful gown from Shropshire Country Brides, paired with classic Rainbow Club shoes. Hair was styled by Wayahead Hair Studio, and her glowing makeup was created by SJM Beauty. Her bridesmaids wore elegant dresses from David’s Bridal, while Rob and his groomsmen looked incredibly sharp in suits from Moss Bros.
A Heartfelt Ceremony at St Mary’s Church, Selattyn
The ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church, a peaceful, picturesque church nestled among the Shropshire hills. The floral arrangements inside were beautifully created by the local WI, adding soft colour and charm to the space.
One of the day’s sweetest personal touches was the confetti was homemade! It felt meaningful and looked incredible in the sunshine as Rose & Rob stepped out together as newlyweds.
Vintage Bus to The Courtyard Venue, The Fun Begins
After the ceremony, guests climbed aboard a vintage Routemaster bus from Routemaster4Hire to travel to The Courtyard Venue Oswestry. This was such a fun moment, lots of laughter, waving, cheering and brilliant energy as everyone settled in for the journey.
It made for fantastic photos too. There’s something about that bright red bus against the Shropshire countryside that never fails to make a statement.
Arriving at The Courtyard Venue in Oswestry
When we arrived, The Courtyard Venue looked absolutely breathtaking. On a warm July afternoon, this venue honestly feels like Italy, the stone walls, the sunlit courtyard, the surrounding greenery and that unmistakable golden light.
For couples dreaming of a destination-feel wedding without leaving the UK, The Courtyard Venue in Oswestry is simply perfect.
As a photographer, I absolutely love shooting here. The light is beautiful, the layout is ideal for relaxed celebrations, and there are endless spaces for portraits. I would love to photograph many more weddings at this incredible venue.
Flowers, Styling & Personal Touches
Rose carried a stunning bouquet created by Luna Bloom, and both the bouquets and buttonholes added such lovely texture to the overall palette of the day. Venue flowers and dressing were completed by a talented family friend, keeping everything personal and meaningful.
Music, Atmosphere & a Seriously Fun Reception
Guests were welcomed into The Courtyard with live music from the unforgettable brass band Big and Horny Brass, yes, that is really their name! They brought such fun, vibrant energy to the drinks reception.
In the evening, Benny Smyth DJ took over and kept the dance floor full all night. With no cake or videographer to worry about, Rose & Rob chose to focus on the things that mattered most: music, celebration, loved ones and a relaxed, feel-good vibe.
