Steph and Ben are one of those wonderful couples who keep coming back to me for some of their wonderful life milestones. I’ve so far shot their engagement shoot, wedding, maternity shoot and now a family shoot with their beautiful one year old son! I’m always so grateful when my couples trust me to capture their journey, especially when this doesn’t end after the wedding. Since shooting Steph and Ben’s maternity shoot I’ve had a son myself so it was really lovely seeing the differences between my tiny human and theirs and how much mine will learn!
For Steph and Ben’s family shoot we headed to Haughmond Hill which is a beautiful woodland in Shrewsbury. We did their maternity shoot there just over a year before and both their engagement shoot and wedding were also set in woodland so this shoot felt like a great continuation! We were so lucky with the weather, the temperature was perfect and it wasn’t too sunny which meant we had great even light which is perfect for a photoshoot!
Before their shoot I’d picked out a couple of places for us to head to that weren’t too far from the car park. Haughmond Hill has quite a few circular trails but they’re all around 4k or more which is great if you want a walk but not so great for little legs! No matter what kind of shoot I do, I always take people off the beaten track to ensure there aren’t lots of people in the background of the shots. We found a really lovely log for them to take a perch on which was perfect for some sitting down shots and we also found some beautiful foxgloves to do photographs next to.
