If you’re dreaming of a romantic Rowton Castle wedding, let me tell you — Emma & Luke’s day was the perfect example of just how magical this venue can be, especially in winter.
Set just outside Shrewsbury, Rowton Castle is a stunning 17th-century castle that offers everything you could want from a fairytale wedding venue. With its grand interiors, manicured gardens, and surrounding woodland, it’s a dream location all year round — but there’s something extra special about it in the winter months.
Emma & Luke chose to have a black tie wedding, which suited the timeless elegance of the castle beautifully. Think classic tuxedos, a stunning gown, and candlelit details that added a soft glow to the whole day. It felt intimate, stylish, and full of warmth — the perfect combination for a winter celebration.
One of my absolute favourite parts of the day was heading into the woodland for their couple portraits. Even in winter, the grounds of Rowton Castle are so full of character. We were lucky enough to get that dreamy golden hour light, which filtered through the trees and gave their portraits a soft, romantic glow. Honestly, winter light hits differently — it’s lower, warmer, and so flattering. A real bonus for anyone considering a winter wedding!
Inside, the castle was the cosiest setting for their celebration. Roaring fires, elegant reception spaces, and those classic castle backdrops made every photo feel like a scene from a period drama — in the best way.
Emma & Luke’s wedding was such a joy to capture. From the heartfelt ceremony to the laughter-filled evening, their love for each other (and their people!) shone through every moment.
