An Autumn Engagement Shoot at Apley Woods | Caroline & Oli

There’s something so special about autumn. The golden light, the crunch of leaves underfoot, and that feeling of everything slowing down just a little. Apley Woods was the perfect spot for Caroline and Oli’s engagement session—and what made it even more special was knowing their wedding day at The Bridal Barn in Bridgnorth was just around the corner.

I met Caroline and Oli on a crisp autumn afternoon, and right from the start, the session had that easy, natural feel I always hope for. Apley Woods was showing off in full autumn colour—burnt oranges, golden yellows, and deep reds—and it gave everything this soft, romantic glow.

These two are the kind of couple who are just comfortable with each other. Nothing forced, no awkward posing—just real connection, shared laughter, and the quiet moments in between. We wandered through the trees, stopped at the little wooden bridge, and took our time soaking it all in. One of my favourite things about Apley is how peaceful it feels—like you’ve stepped away from the world for a little while.

It was such a lovely opportunity for the three of us to connect before the big day. Engagement shoots aren’t just about the photos (though we did get some gorgeous ones)—they’re about building that trust and comfort, so when the wedding day comes, everything feels easy and familiar.

And speaking of the wedding—Caroline and Oli’s day at The Bridal Barn was incredible (you can take a peek at it here). Their engagement shoot captured the calm before the magic—and it’s always such a privilege to be invited into that part of the journey.

If you’re planning your own wedding and wondering whether an engagement session is worth it—this is your sign. Choose somewhere that means something to you, or just a peaceful spot like Apley Woods, and I’ll meet you there with my camera and a gentle, relaxed approach. Let’s tell a piece of your story, just as it is, in that beautiful in-between time.
