There’s always a little extra pressure photographing another photographer—especially when that photographer is as talented as Thomas Miles! Thomas is a fellow wedding photographer, a friend, and a brilliant fine art artist whose work constantly inspires me. His self-portraiture is some of the most creative and emotive I’ve seen, so when he asked me to do a personal branding shoot for him, I was incredibly honoured… and a little nervous!
We planned the shoot for golden hour on a crisp winter’s day, and nature really delivered. The light was low and dreamy, casting that magical golden glow across the landscape. We were lucky enough to find a patch of snowdrops—tiny, delicate reminders that spring was just around the corner—and they added a soft, poetic touch to some of the portraits.
Shooting with Tom was such a joy. There’s something special about collaborating with another creative mind. We bounced ideas off each other throughout the session, playing with light, shadow, movement, and texture. It felt more like an art project than a photoshoot, and I loved every second of it.
What made this branding shoot really unique was how we combined the practical need for professional portraits with a sense of artistic play. Tom brings such a strong sense of self to his work, and I wanted to capture that—his calm presence, his eye for detail, and his beautifully thoughtful approach to photography.
