“Oh my God Lisa you are amazing!!!! We couldn’t love these photos any more than we do – better than we could have ever imagined!! I’ve looked at them over and over again and every time I see a different little detail that you have managed to capture. I am completely overwhelmed.
All of our guests were so impressed with you, so many people have commented on how professional and discreet you were, and how hard you worked! Of all the many things we had to choose and book for our day, I can honestly say that booking you was the best decision we made. I’d recommend you to EVERYONE!”
Mytton and Mermaid is a gorgeous rural wedding venue in the heart of Shropshire. Situated in Atcham, opposite the beautiful Attingham Park, it was the perfect setting for Natalie and Chris’ wedding back in September. I did an engagement shoot with Natalie and Chris at Attingham Park the month before their wedding, it was so lovely to get to know them during this shoot and it meant that we built up a real connection, so that on their wedding day it was as though I was shooting a wedding for an old friend.
The morning of their wedding I was greeted by Natalie and her mum getting ready in one of the beautiful rooms at The Mytton and Mermaid. Natalie had chosen not to have loads of people around her while she was getting ready as she wanted a really chilled out, stress-free wedding morning. She had been to Gold E Loks Salon in Shrewsbury to have her hair done before heading to The Mytton and Mermaid. She had also decided to do her own make-up for her wedding day and she told me she’d watched a few YouTube videos in the lead up to the wedding and had bought some really nice make-up. Not only did she do an amazing job at her own make-up, but she also helped her mum do hers too. I loved that Natalie had chosen to do her own thing for the morning of the wedding, there really are no rules on what you “should” have for your wedding day, you should do whatever feels right to you.
Ceremony at St Eata’s Church
Natalie and Chris chose to get married at St Eatas Church, which is found at the back of The Mytton and Mermaid. I’ve shot quite a few weddings at The Mytton and Mermaid previously, however this was my first time shooting at wedding at that church. Inside the church it’s really beautiful and bright and to top it off, they had one of the friendliest vicars I’ve ever met, it really made their ceremony a real joy! There were lots of jokes and laughter during the service, proving that church ceremonies don’t have to be rigid and formal affairs, it’s all about finding the right vicar to conduct the ceremony! One shot that I knew was really important to Natalie was a photograph of their confetti moment after their ceremony. We chose to do this on the walk back up to The Mytton and Mermaid, I got all their guests ready and armed with confetti as they hung back and had a moment to themselves. When their guests were ready to throw Natalie and Chris walked though the confetti tunnel and the joy on their faces was so wonderful to see!
Couple Portraits at The Mytton and Mermaid
Couple portraits at The Mytton and Mermaid is always a wonderful thing to do. There are so many places we can use for these photographs, I’m always spoilt for choice! I knew Natalie and Chris were going to be brilliant at this bit because their engagement shoot was so lovely to do. We used various spots by The River Severn, Atcham bridge and the grounds at St Eatas church. I particularly loved photographing Natalie and Chris underneath the berry trees at St Eata’s church, this spot did have gravestones behind them so I asked them to trust me for these photographs that they would look stunning and not weirdly morbid! Later on in the day we had one of the most beautiful sunsets of 2019 and I practically ran up to Natalie and Chris to ask them to come with me for more shots. I’m really pleased they decided to because I got one of my favourite silhouettes that I have ever shot of them on the bridge in Atcham.
I adored photographing Natalie and Chris’ wedding. If you’re planning a wedding at The Mytton and Mermaid and you’re looking for a creative and relaxed wedding photographer, then please get in touch, I would love to hear from you!
