Lichfield Wedding

Some days just feel easy. Unhurried. Like the two people at the centre of it have already figured out the most important thing, and everything else is just joyful detail.

That was Jenni and Jordan’s wedding day.

The Morning

Jenni got ready at home. Her actual home, close enough to the registry office that I could walk there on foot. I love a morning like this. No hotel corridors, no unfamiliar rooms. Just familiar light, familiar faces, and the particular kind of quiet energy that comes before everything changes.

Heather Victoria Hair and Makeup had been there from the start, and the results were everything. Jenni’s look was soft and considered, a perfect match for her Monsoon dress and Dune shoes. When she was ready, we nipped into the taxi together for the short ride to the registry office. One of those small, ordinary moments that felt anything but.

Jordan and the groomsmen were sharp and easy in their suits and shoes from DJ Formal Wear in Alvechurch. The kind of tailored confidence that photographs itself.

The Ceremony | Lichfield Registry Office

There is something I find really moving about a registry office ceremony done with intention. The room is stripped back. The words are the whole point. And the people who fill it are there because they truly want to be.

Jenni and Jordan’s ceremony at Lichfield Registry Office was exactly that, intimate and warm and full of feeling. Afterwards, dried petal confetti filled the air as they stepped out together. One of those instinctive, joyful moments that film was made for.

The Reception | The George Hotel, Lichfield

We walked the short distance to their reception, stopping every now and then for some couple portraits using some of Lichfield’s landmarks.

Emma Sheffield at Beyoutiful Events had dressed the space with real care. Emma also handled the flowers through her floral brand Flural Exuberance, and the two elements together felt cohesive and deeply considered. Nothing overdone. Everything just right.

Charlie Turley at Mama Bakes made the cake, which I’m told tasted as good as it looked. (It looked exceptional.)

As the evening opened up, Stealing Saturn from LJ Music Management took to the floor and the room came alive. Packed dance floor from the first song. Always the sign of something special.

On Shooting Film

Jenni and Jordan’s day was documented on both digital and 35mm film. I always feel the shift when I pick up the film camera, the slowing down, the intention behind each frame. Film holds light differently. It holds feeling differently. Grain and warmth and a certain softness that pulls you back into a moment rather than just showing it to you.

The two formats tell the story together. I love when a day lets me do that.
