There’s something about August light. The way it fills a room and makes everything feel softer, warmer. Sally and Gary’s Davenport House wedding had that quality throughout, like the whole day was wrapped in golden hour.

They’ve been together a long time. You could see it in the way they moved around each other, the quiet knowing looks, the ease. Five children between them, and their day reflected exactly that, a celebration of family in the truest sense. Not just the two of them starting something new, but bringing together everyone who already belonged to their story.

The ceremony was held inside, and the light that poured through was extraordinary. There’s an intimacy to an indoor ceremony that I love. Everyone gathered close, sharing in something precious. I photographed it on both digital and 35mm film, each medium catching different qualities of the same moments.

Burnt orange bridesmaid dresses against dried flowers. The whole aesthetic felt organic and honest, nothing forced or overly styled. Just beautiful choices that suited them and the space perfectly. Davenport House has this warmth to it anyway, and they leaned right into that.

The white bouncy castle outside might have been my favourite touch. Watching the children (and quite a few adults) lose themselves in simple joy, that’s the kind of moment that becomes part of your family mythology. The thing people will laugh about in ten years, twenty years. Remember the bouncy castle?

“We were so lucky to have had Lisa as our photographer for our wedding. Honestly I cannot recommend her enough, they say the best photographer is the one you do not see, and it is so true. We had the most amazing photographs we will cherish of our big day forever.” – Sally & Gary

That’s what I’m always working towards. To be there but invisible. To document without directing. To give you back not just what happened, but how it felt.
Davenport House is a gem for couples who want something relaxed and welcoming. The light inside is beautiful for ceremonies, and the grounds offer space for those quieter moments between the two of you. It’s the kind of venue that doesn’t need much, it already has everything.
If you’re drawn to what you’re seeing here, if Sally and Gary’s day feels like the kind of wedding you want for yourselves, I‘d love to talk. About your story, about what matters to you, about creating something that feels completely yours.
