Shropshire Lifestyle Family Session

Shropshire at home family session

Lifestyle family sessions in Shropshire are my favourite things to capture. It’s always an honour when my wedding couples come back to me years down the line for family photographs. I always say the best part about my job is the people, I get to know all my couples so well that I really feel like I know them and we’re friends after their wedding day. I captured Verity and Dave’s wonderful Shropshire Bridal Barn wedding a few years ago and I was delighted when they asked me back to capture their next chapter. We did a maternity shoot just before Verity had her son, Harrison and when Harrison made his arrival we did a family shoot for them a few months later.

To me, family photography should be ordinary, bare with me here because I know how that sounds. Since becoming a mum myself at the start of this year I can truly feel and see the time slipping away before my very eyes. There is so much I want to bottle up and remember and the only way we can do that is photography and video. I think families should be captured at home, among the mess, the chaos, the absolute beauty of real family life. When I think about the really significant things I want to remember with my son it’s always the small stuff. It’s his long eyelashes, his gummy smile, the way he sticks his hand in my mouth when he’s feeding, the way he smiles at his favourite book. I photograph a LOT of weddings, (and I’m not about to say you shouldn’t have a wedding photographer because you definitely should), and we prioritise photography for a wedding day because understandably, it’s a significant life event. I truly believe we should prioritise the every day just as much. I know that we are going to make sure we have a family session every single year because things change so quickly and I want to make sure we don’t miss it. If you’re on the fence about booking a lifestyle family session, just book it, in 6 months time things are going to be completely different, don’t miss it.
