“We saw photographs from a friend’s wedding that Lisa had shot, and just loved the natural style and the way that Lisa managed to capture the happy mood of the day. We didn’t even consider other photographers! Lisa was amazing on the day, she got on really well with all of our guests and put us totally at ease. Several of our guests commented on how lovely she was to have around.
We were delighted with our pictures, and have just ordered prints to go round the house. Lisa did an amazing job of capturing all of the emotion on the day. If you’re thinking about booking Lisa for your wedding, just do it!”
Lorna and James got married in winter at the fab Pendrell Hall, which is a beautiful country house in Codsall. It was such a fun wedding and the sun even made an appearance!
Lorna got ready in the house in the grounds of Pendrell surrounded by her bridesmaids, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. Whenever I’ve photographed at Pendrell Hall before bridal prep has always taken place in the bridal suite, however Lorna chose to get her hair and make up done in the house. The light in the conservatory of the house was lovely, it was the perfect condition for doing make up! The girls then walked together to get to the ceremony. When all their hair and make up had been done, before they put their dresses on, they headed over to Pendrell Hall itself to continue getting ready in the bridal suite there.
The serious part
The ceremony was a legal ceremony in the main hall. In Pendrell Hall there are a few areas that you can have your ceremony. The main areas being outside under the gazebo or in a side room which is used purely for the ceremony. Lorna and James chose to use the side room, as had their wedding in Winter it would have been far too cold to have held their ceremony outside! During the ceremony they had a beautiful reading. It was so meaningful and such a personal service. When Lorna and James walked out of their ceremony, their guests greeted them by throwing confetti at them. We decided to do their confetti shot inside as it was raining during their ceremony and we didn’t want their guests to get wet!
The reception was in the bar at the venue. They chose Pendrell Hall because it has so many options and they just fell in love with it. It was a winter wedding, which I love because they always have a cosy feel to them. I love shooting Pendrell Hall weddings because the grounds are just incredible. I’ve shot at Pendrell Hall quite a few times now and it’s always a real treat getting to go back. The grounds always have something different to offer at different times of the year and there are lots of little hidden sections we can use for couple portraits.
They had a cocktail drinks reception in the afternoon, and a live band in the evening. Live bands always go down a storm at weddings, Lorna and James’ day was no exception! They decorated the venue with pine cones and flowers, because they wanted to keep it seasonal. I love the use as pine cones as decoration and it worked so well with the time of year.
The best part of the day was the dancing, because they had a ceilidh. Ceilidh’s always work so well at weddings, the dancefloor is always completely full and they’re always hilarious to watch and photograph. The more people drink the harder it gets!
Lorna wore a Joanna dress from Wed2b complete with a cape, which she had instead of a veil and James wore a dark suit from Slaters and they looked so incredible. Lorna’s flowers were beautiful. She gave the florist her theme of woodland foliage and they created something lovely for her with that theme.
The couple met at Oxford University and have been together for six years. They got in touch with me before they’d booked Pendrell Hall and their enquiry was really touching. They said they just wanted to be married, and I loved that they seemed so much fun.
Lorna and James’s wedding was so laid back and just the happiest occasion. Here’s their Pendrell Hall wedding!
