Laid back wedding at Blakelands Country House – Jess & Alex

I don’t know what else to say but. WOW and THANK YOU, I don’t know how you have done it, you have captured so many beautiful moments of the day so perfectly. I am so pleased with the photos and the slideshow When I watched it, it really took my breath away, thank you so much the slideshow is just so beautiful. I have showed my family and Alex, you have bought us all lots of happy tears. Thank you SO much.

Jess and Alex got married last February at the gorgeous Blakelands Country House, which is a beautiful country house in Staffordshire. It was the most beautiful wedding and the sun shone all day long!

Jess got ready in The Loft at Blakelands with her bridesmaids to keep her company, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. I had a good giggle with Jess’ bridesmaids when the registrars made us all crowd together at the bottom of the loft while they conducted Jess’ interview. The girls then walked together to get to the ceremony. As Jess and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle, everyone turned round to look, they looked absolutely stunning! Alex got ready at Blakelands too with his groomsmen in another part of the house to avoid seeing Jess.

The ceremony was an intimate affair in the barn. It was decorated with beautiful fairy lights, these made a perfect background for their ceremony. During the ceremony they had a beautiful reading. It was so emotional and so unique.

The reception was in a beautiful room at the venue. They chose Blakelands Country House because it felt right from the moment they arrived and they just fell in love with it. It was a winter wedding, which was perfect for the cosy venue they chose. I love shooting winter weddings because the light is so pretty. Blakelands is such a gorgeous venue with so many different aspects to use from a photographic perspective, I love getting chance to shoot here.

They had a drinks reception in the afternoon, and DJ in the evening. I adored shooting Jess & Alex’s portrait session, they set aside a good amount of time for us to get some amazing shots and allowed me to be really creative. They decorated the venue with wildflowers and lots of colour, because they wanted to keep it simple. I loved how they decorated blakelands! Jess is a graphic designer so I knew she’d have an amazing eye for detail when it came to the decor, and I wasn’t disappointed.

For dinner they had proper wedding grub, which was loved by all the guests. The first dance was really lovely, with Jess’ nephew getting onto the dance floor to join in, and they finished off the evening with sparklers. Sparklers are such a great idea at a winter wedding, they give guests that extra bit of fun in the evening.

The most memorable part of the day was the speeches, because they were heartfelt and funny at the same time.

Jess wore a Maggie Sottero dress and Alex wore a Peter Posh suit with Jones Bootmaker shoes and they looked so incredible. Jess’s dress was stunning, the back had such incredibly intricate detail to it and Alex’s suit was really smart, I loved the grey waistcoat.

Jess and Alex’s wedding was so much fun and had such a chilled vibe. Here’s their gorgeous day!
