Steph and Alex had their engagement shoot in the gorgeous Ironbridge in Telford. I’d never done an engagement shoot in Ironbridge before so when they suggested it for their shoot I absolutely jumped at the chance to shoot there, it’s such a picturesque place. For the first part of an engagement shoot I just tend to have a bit of a wander around with the couple and chat about their wedding and get to know them. While we were chatting Alex and Steph told me that they know Elisha and Gaz, who’s wedding I shot in 2017, I always love finding out that some of my couples know each other, especially when they’re as lovely as both Steph and Alex and Elisha and Gaz are.
We did Steph and Alex’s shoot in the early evening which meant we got the most beautiful golden light. Golden hour is always my favourite time for any shoot, good light can take a nice photo to a beautiful one. Steph and Alex are both stunning and really natural in front of the camera so it was pretty easy to get a nice photo of them, the light just added in an extra magical element! They also bought along their super cute little dog for their shoot so of course we had to get a few shots of her too!
During their shoot we used a few different areas in Ironbridge, we started at Dale End Park, which is right next to The Valley Hotel, I knew one shot I really wanted to get before we even started the shoot was of Alex and Steph infront of the cooling towers, they’re set to be demolished very soon and they’re a very iconic part of Ironbridge. I really love how photographs capture moments in time and history, the cooling towers will very soon be lost in history and I love that the photo of Steph and Alex in front of them dates the photograph, they’ll always know that the cooling towers were still there when they had their engagement shoot.
If you’re having a shoot in Ironbridge then it’s only right that you use the bridge itself, we made our way up to the bridge for the last part of the shoot and I used the bridge in a few different ways. I took photographs of them underneath it, in front of it and of course on the bridge. The only thing to be aware of when taking photos here is that Ironbridge obviously attracts a lot of tourists so there will probably be people around while you’re having your photos taken. Thankfully Steph and Alex were absolute pros and didn’t pay any attention to anyone else (I was actually convinced they’d had a couple shoot before, they seemed like they’d had practice!).
I can’t wait to share their gorgeous wedding with you on the blog soon!
