Beth and Chris got married all the way back in April at Blakelands Country House in Stourbridge, a short drive from where I’m based in Shropshire. Blakelands is an absolutely stunning venue with large grounds, they even have the option for couples to get married outside which was the plan for Beth and Chris’ day however good old English weather meant they had to have their ceremony inside.
I arrived at the venue early to have a good look round, I was amazed by how big the grounds were, it was wonderfully picturesque and when I first arrived the sun was shining. I walked into bridal prep and everyone was in high spirits with the bride, bridesmaids and flower girls all getting ready in the gorgeous and incredibly spacious bridal suite. As I was getting the detail shots of the shoes and the dresses I noticed that Beth had two pairs of shoes, one pair being Converse All Stars. I really loved this idea, it’s far easier to party in flat shoes! When the hair had been done and the make up had been applied it was then time to put on the dress, this is always an emotional moment!
Beth and Chris’ ceremony was really lovely, they had planned to get wed outside but the rain put a stop to that, this wasn’t at all a bad thing though as Blakelands ceremony room is beautiful. My personal favourite capture of the day was when Beth walked up the aisle and was greeted by her groom who was overwhelmed when he saw her! Then it was onto the vows, they were incredibly heartfelt with a few guests actually breaking down in tears as they were being said.
Relaxed Couple Portraits
After they were officially pronounced husband and wife they went outside into the courtyard of Blakelands where they were greeted with congratulations and warmhearted hugs from all of their friends and family. It was then time for the confetti shot, confetti always makes for beautiful photographs and this was no exception! At this point in the day I like to take newlywed couples for a bit of a walk around their reception venue, it’s a perfect time for couple portraits and means they get a bit of time alone together after the craziness of their big day to let it sink in that they actually did it, they got married!
It was then onto their meal, speeches and later on party time! The dancing is often the best bit of the day and a really good opportunity for all the guests to really let their hair down. A highlight of Beth and Chris’ dance floor was the kids, they were up celebrating with everyone else! I took them out for a few more portraits later on in the evening just in time to catch the golden light, this made for some stunning portraits of the bride Beth and her daughter!
Congrats again Beth and Chris!
